About the Role

We are seeking a Remote Deputy Editor for Future Perfect to join our dynamic team at Vox Media. In this role, you will manage and edit three reporting fellows, guiding them in generating impactful stories that resonate with our audience. This position is ideal for someone passionate about media and storytelling, with a focus on making a meaningful impact in various sectors, including technology, philanthropy, and global health.

What You'll Do

• Manage and edit three reporting fellows, shaping their ideas and guiding their reporting plans.
• Oversee the editing process for Future Perfect’s twice-weekly newsletter, ensuring high-quality content.
• Conduct training sessions to develop the skills of early-career journalists.
• Collaborate with the editor of Future Perfect to recruit and select the next class of reporting fellows.
• Engage with key subject areas such as emerging technology, global health, and animal welfare.

Requirements

• 3-5 years of editorial experience, preferably in a media or journalism environment.
• Strong understanding of storytelling and the ability to guide others in their writing.
• Experience in coaching and developing junior staff or interns.
• Familiarity with topics related to philanthropy, global development, and technology.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

Nice to Have

• Experience with newsletter management and digital content creation.
• Knowledge of SEO best practices and audience engagement strategies.
• Background in data journalism or evidence-driven reporting.
