Director of Compliance - Remote Opportunity

About the Role

We are seeking a Director of Compliance to join American Express in a remote capacity. In this pivotal role, you will shape the UK Legal Entity Compliance Oversight (LECO) function, ensuring adherence to regulatory governance and compliance across the organization. Your expertise will drive the evolution of our compliance framework, aligning with regulatory expectations and best practices.

What You'll Do

• Establish consistent governance and reporting frameworks across LECO to manage projects effectively.
• Utilize your understanding of UK regulatory requirements to challenge and guide regulatory initiatives.
• Design and implement responses to regulatory changes, ensuring compliance with internal policies.
• Lead cross-functional regulatory change initiatives, influencing decisions across multiple business units.
• Build trusted relationships with stakeholders, providing updates to senior governance forums.

Requirements

• Proven project management skills with a strong attention to detail.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, capable of influencing senior leaders.
• Experience in delivering large, complex initiatives under pressure.
• Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as FCA handbook, payments, and consumer credit.
• Eligibility to work in the UK without visa sponsorship.
