About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Associate General Counsel Director - APAC Data Licensing to join The Trade Desk team remotely. In this role, you will lead all aspects of commercial counseling support for Data Partnerships initiatives in the APAC region, providing legal leadership on strategic initiatives involving the future of data in advertising.

What You'll Do

  • Lead commercial counseling support for Data Partnerships initiatives across APAC.
  • Partner with stakeholders to deliver regionally informed guidance grounded in regulatory expertise.
  • Exercise strong judgment to provide legal leadership on strategic initiatives involving cutting-edge areas such as retail data and identity.
  • Structure, draft, negotiate, and manage commercial agreements with major data suppliers and platforms.
  • Collaborate with business development, product, privacy, and policy teams to advise on complex legal matters.
  • Continually improve templates, playbooks, and legal processes to help scale globally.
  • Mentor and lead other attorneys within the organization.
  • Identify and analyze potential risks related to licensing, intellectual property, and data security laws.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of in-house or law firm experience required.
  • Admitted to practice law in at least one Asian jurisdiction.
  • Fluent in English with strong international experience.
  • Experience in digital advertising and leading negotiations with large global companies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong business judgment and leadership skills.
  • Exceptional critical thinking skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in structuring, drafting, and negotiating commercial technology agreements.

Nice to Have

  • Experience managing outside counsel.
  • Fluency in additional Asian languages.
  • A sense of humor to contribute positively to team dynamics.
