Summer Intern - Facility Construction Support (Remote)

About the Role

We are seeking a Summer Intern for Facility Construction Support to join the Operations Services Department (OSD) at Port Authority Trans-Hudson. This remote internship is an excellent opportunity for students majoring in Engineering, Architecture, or a related field. As a Summer Intern, you will support core business needs and overall agency goals, focusing on facility maintenance and construction.

What You'll Do

• Assist in process improvements using Microsoft products to enhance operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with construction personnel on project designs, ensuring alignment with agency standards.
• Write Requests for Information (RFIs) for clarification on construction projects, facilitating clear communication.
• Support project budgets and schedules, helping to keep projects on track and within budget.
• Prepare turnover documents necessary for occupancy permits, ensuring compliance with regulations.
• Conduct internal construction inspections to ensure quality and adherence to project specifications.
• Update the inventory of the motor vehicle fleet, maintaining accurate records for operational needs.
• Perform data entry of completed work orders, ensuring all information is up-to-date and accessible.

Requirements

• Enrollment at a college or university during the internship, with a major in Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with staff and the public.
• Strong experience with Microsoft products, essential for daily tasks and process improvements.
• Experience with maintenance management systems is a plus, enhancing your ability to contribute effectively.
• Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and projects efficiently.
• Problem-solving and critical thinking abilities to address challenges that arise during projects.
