About the Role

We are seeking a talented Remote Subtitle Localization Specialist to join our dynamic team at TSMG. In this role, you will be responsible for translating and localizing subtitles for various media content, including television shows, films, and documentaries, from English to French. Your expertise will ensure linguistic accuracy, cultural relevance, and technical compliance with subtitle standards.

What You'll Do

  • Translate spoken English dialogue into French while preserving tone, context, and cultural nuances.
  • Edit subtitles to align with audio cues and visual pacing, ensuring readability and timing accuracy.
  • Utilize industry-standard subtitle editing tools to maintain formatting standards.
  • Proofread and review subtitles for grammar, spelling, and consistency.
  • Collaborate with quality assurance teams to implement feedback effectively.
  • Manage multiple projects, coordinating with project managers and editors to meet deadlines.
  • Ensure all deliverables meet platform-specific technical and linguistic guidelines.

Requirements

  • French Proficiency: Native or near-native (C1/C2) with a strong grasp of regional dialects and cultural references.
  • English Proficiency: Strong comprehension of spoken and written English (C1/C2 level).
  • Experience: 1–2 years in subtitle translation/editing in French; familiarity with AI-driven translation/localization tools.
  • Skills: Detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and comfortable with media content.
  • Preferred Degree: In Translation, Linguistics, or a related field (French).
  • Experience with streaming platforms and accessibility standards is a plus.
