Remote Senior Staff Content Designer - AI-Enabled Experiences

About the Role

We are seeking a Remote Senior Staff Content Designer to join our innovative team at Gusto. In this role, you will lead the next chapter of content design for an AI-enabled world within our flagship Pay Group. As a Remote Senior Staff Content Designer, you will shape how our words, interactions, and intelligent systems come together to make payroll feel effortless, transparent, and human.

What You'll Do

• Define how Gusto’s Pay experiences communicate, guide, and collaborate with both people and AI agents.
• Partner with designers, PMs, and AI researchers to build frameworks, language systems, and tone strategies.
• Lead the design of AI-powered experiences that enhance clarity and trust for small businesses.
• Collaborate with a team of 80+ designers, writers, and researchers to create intelligent and human experiences.
• Utilize your expertise in content design to anticipate user needs and amplify consideration in interactions.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a content designer or in a similar role.
• Strong understanding of AI and its implications for content design.
• Proven ability to lead projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Excellent communication skills, with a focus on creating human-centered content.
• Experience in designing for digital products, particularly in the payroll or HR space.

Nice to Have

• Experience with user research and testing methodologies.
• Familiarity with design tools such as Figma or Sketch.
• Knowledge of accessibility standards in content design.
