About the Role

We're hiring a Remote Director of Engineering to lead our engineering efforts at Alpaca. This position offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of financial services in India. As the Founding Engineer, you will be instrumental in establishing our engineering presence in the Indian market, driving innovation and excellence in our operations.

What You'll Do

• Lead the engineering team in India, developing a world-class engineering organization.
• Architect and implement critical financial infrastructure that supports our diverse range of services.
• Define the technical strategy and vision for Alpaca's operations in India, ensuring alignment with our global objectives.
• Facilitate communication between engineering teams and executive leadership, promoting a culture of collaboration and accountability.
• Engage with senior leadership to influence strategic decisions and drive transformational initiatives across multiple divisions.
• Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the engineering team.
• Oversee the operational execution of engineering projects, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality outcomes.
• Contribute to the open-source community, enhancing our developer-friendly API and infrastructure.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Director of Engineering or similar leadership role in a tech-driven environment.
• Strong background in financial services, with a deep understanding of the industry and its challenges.
• Exceptional technical skills, with proficiency in API development and architecture.
• Experience in building and leading high-performing engineering teams.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
• Strategic thinker with the ability to balance high-level planning with operational execution.
• Passion for fostering a culture of empathy, accountability, and curiosity within the team.
• Experience in the crypto or fintech sector is a plus.

Nice to Have
