Head of Risk - Remote Position in iGaming

About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Head of Risk to lead our sportsbook risk strategy during a critical growth phase. This Head of Risk remote position is pivotal as we expand our operations internationally, focusing on risk governance, exposure management, and long-term margin protection.

What You'll Do

• Develop and lead the overall sportsbook risk strategy, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
• Establish scalable exposure management frameworks to optimize risk controls.
• Implement clear risk reporting structures for senior leadership to facilitate informed decision-making.
• Oversee real-time liability management across all active markets, optimizing customer limits and profiling methodologies.
• Identify and mitigate sharp action, arbitrage, and coordinated activity to protect margins.
• Analyze hold performance and margin volatility, collaborating with trading, CRM, fraud, and payments teams to reduce leakage.
• Build and structure the risk function, defining KPIs and accountability frameworks to promote a disciplined, data-driven risk culture.
• Challenge assumptions and implement structured improvements to enhance operational discipline.

Requirements

• Minimum of 10 years of sportsbook risk or senior trading risk experience.
• Previous experience in a Tier-1 sportsbook environment is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated track record of stabilizing or improving sportsbook margin performance.
• Deep understanding of sharp vs recreational betting behavior and arbitrage detection.
• Strong analytical capability and commercial judgment, with experience in fast-growth or international markets advantageous.
• Comfortable taking ownership of high-impact decisions and able to challenge assumptions.
