Field Commissioning Technician - Renewable Energy Projects
About the Role
We're hiring a Field Commissioning Technician to support renewable energy projects across multiple sites in North Carolina. This role requires extensive fieldwork and offers a unique opportunity to work on utility-scale solar installations. As a Field Commissioning Technician, you will ensure the highest quality standards are met while coordinating with key stakeholders.
What You'll Do
- Verify EPC construction quality and support commissioning activities at three solar sites.
- Perform extensive field walkdowns and manage punch lists to ensure project milestones are met.
- Validate electrical installations and ensure turnover documentation aligns with design requirements.
- Coordinate closely with Duke Energy to facilitate safe energization of the sites.
- Utilize Excel, Word, and Outlook for documentation and reporting purposes.
Requirements
- 5–10 years of experience in the power industry, with a strong preference for solar.
- Experience with DC and AC systems, medium-voltage and high-voltage equipment.
- Ability to perform extensive fieldwork, including climbing and lifting as necessary.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical drawings and design packages.
- Strong electrical background from an electrician or electrical technician trade or engineering background.
Nice to Have
- Prior experience commissioning utility-scale solar projects.
- Familiarity with solar tracking systems and large-scale cabling installations.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary range of $50-60 per hour, translating to an annual salary of approximately $104,000 to $124,800.
- Per diem support of $2,500–$3,000 per month for housing during the project duration.
