About the Role
Join the Alliance for Justice (AFJ) as a Summer Legal Intern for their Bolder Advocacy program, where you will gain valuable experience in nonprofit advocacy and policymaking. This remote internship is designed for current law students looking to enhance their skills while working flexibly from anywhere in the world. As a Summer Legal Intern, you will engage in meaningful work that supports nonprofits and their advocacy efforts.
What You'll Do
- Participate in BA trainings focused on nonprofit law and public presentation skills.
- Conduct research and draft responses to technical assistance questions related to nonprofit advocacy.
- Monitor legislation that impacts nonprofit advocacy efforts.
- Write blog posts or articles on various nonprofit advocacy topics to raise awareness.
- Collaborate with Communications and Development teams to enhance outreach efforts.
- Support trainers and assist in logistics for various events.
- Engage with new audiences and nonprofits to broaden the impact of advocacy efforts.
- Work 40 hours per week during the 10-week internship period, typically from June to August.
Requirements
- Current law student with a strong interest in public policy and nonprofit organizations.
- Excellent research, writing, and oral communication skills.
- Ability to analyze and clearly explain legal concepts.
- Commitment to public interest advocacy and supporting nonprofit organizations.
- Availability to dedicate full-time hours during the internship.
Nice to Have
- Previous experience in advocacy or nonprofit work.
- Familiarity with legislative processes and public policy.
