Software Engineer - Account Abuse (Remote)

About the Role

We are seeking a talented Software Engineer - Account Abuse (Remote) to join our dynamic team at Anthropic. In this role, you will be responsible for building systems that gather and analyze signals at scale, ensuring that our computing capacity is allocated fairly and minimizing resources available to bad actors. You will work closely with various stakeholder teams to create robust defenses against account abuse, making a significant impact on our mission to create reliable and beneficial AI systems.

What You'll Do

• Develop and implement systems to monitor and analyze account activity, focusing on abuse detection and prevention.
• Collaborate with data scientists to maintain situational awareness of usage patterns and trends.
• Integrate third-party data-enrichment vendors to enhance our monitoring capabilities.
• Create monitoring dashboards, alerts, and internal admin UX to streamline processes.
• Lead root cause analyses and investigations into account activity to identify abuse patterns and inform enforcement actions.
• Jump into other teams’ code to identify key points for signal gathering with minimal disruption.
• Build robust and reliable multi-layered defenses against emerging attack vectors.
• Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 3-10+ years of experience in a software engineering position, preferably in integrity, spam, fraud, or abuse detection.
• Proficiency in Python, SQL, and data analysis tools.
• Strong communication skills and ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience building trust and safety mechanisms for AI/ML systems is a plus.

Nice to Have

• Experience with fraud-detection models or security monitoring tools.
• Familiarity with operational teams and building custom internal tooling.
