Senior Software Developer - Java for Crypto Trading Platform

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Software Developer - Java remote to join our client, Stillman Digital, a global technology and digital asset liquidity provider based in the USA. In this role, you will help to design, build, and scale the backend systems that power the company's digital asset trading platform. As a Senior Software Developer - Java remote, you will work on low-latency, high-throughput trading systems, collaborating closely with engineering, trading, and operations teams to contribute directly to the reliability, performance, and scalability of our core trading infrastructure.

What You'll Do

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance backend services and APIs for crypto trading systems.
• Build and optimize low-latency trading infrastructure.
• Collaborate with frontend developers to ensure seamless integration with backend services.
• Optimize system performance and scalability to support increasing trading volumes.
• Troubleshoot and debug complex production systems.
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient Java code following best practices.
• Participate in code reviews and mentor junior engineers.
• Collaborate with trading, operations, and senior leadership teams.
• Stay up to date with emerging technologies in crypto, digital assets, and trading systems.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience building backend systems for trading, financial, or crypto platforms.
• Strong expertise in Java 17.
• Hands-on experience with: Spring Framework, Aeron, PostgreSQL, SBE (Simple Binary Encoding), REST APIs and WebSockets, FIX protocol, Direct TCP/UDP networking.
• Solid understanding of low-latency and high-throughput system design.
• Experience with Docker and cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred).
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to performance and reliability.
• Ability to work effectively in a fully remote, distributed team.

Nice to Have

• Kubernetes.
• NoSQL databases.
• Experience in crypto, DeFi, or digital asset markets.
• Knowledge of security best practices for financial or digital asset systems.
• Prior experience with mission-critical or real-time systems.
