Senior Operations Engineer - Remote Position in Energy Sector

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Operations Engineer to join our team remotely. In this role, you will play a crucial part in the maintenance and support of EDL's operational technology assets, ensuring the smooth operation of our energy systems.

What You'll Do

  • Promote health and safety within the workplace, ensuring compliance with safety, technical, and legislative policies.
  • Liaise with and supervise third-party contractors for the maintenance and support of operational technology (OT) assets.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, including Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) standards.
  • Produce technical documentation to support project execution, including schematics, work scopes, and functional descriptions.
  • Integrate relevant data from projects into the company’s operational systems, such as PI Historian Platform and Oracle.
  • Utilize a helpdesk support system to log support requests and track job statuses.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to deliver improvement projects for EDL’s assets.
  • Provide control systems engineering expertise for troubleshooting complex problems related to OT assets.

Requirements

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 5 years' experience in electrical, control systems, SCADA, and OT.
  • Experience in industrial power generation environments, particularly with reciprocating engines and load management.
  • Proficiency in at least three of the following: Citect SCADA, ClearSCADA/Geo SCADA, Ignition SCADA, Allen-Bradley PLCs, Schneider PLCs.
  • Strong knowledge of ethernet communication systems, including design and troubleshooting.
  • Good working knowledge of LAN and WAN diagnostics.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with hybrid and renewable energy systems.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies.
  • Certifications in safety management or project management.
