Senior Extrusion Equipment Engineer - Remote Opportunity

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Extrusion Equipment Engineer to join our team at Teleflex, where you will play a crucial role in enhancing our manufacturing processes. This Senior Extrusion Equipment Engineer remote position allows you to leverage your expertise in extrusion engineering to improve product quality and efficiency in a global healthcare environment.

What You'll Do

• Lead initiatives to enhance extrusion line performance, focusing on throughput, waste reduction, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) using Lean methodologies.
• Oversee the planning and execution of extruders, including maintenance and repairs, while engaging with suppliers for improvement projects.
• Utilize root cause analysis (RCA) to resolve process and equipment-related issues, implementing permanent solutions.
• Evaluate existing equipment capabilities and recommend upgrades or modifications, managing the installation and validation of new machinery.
• Collaborate with R&D, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to transition new extrusion processes and products into stable production.
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and technical documentation, training maintenance staff on equipment setup and troubleshooting.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and quality standards.
• Ensure compliance with internal quality management systems and external regulatory standards, including FDA and ISO.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Materials Engineering, or a related field.
• 5-10 years of hands-on experience in extrusion engineering or a related manufacturing field, particularly in plastics, polymers, or medical devices.
• Extensive knowledge of extrusion processes, equipment, and material science.
• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and data analysis tools.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.

Nice to Have

• Experience with statistical process control (SPC) and design of experiments (DOE).
• Familiarity with capital expenditure processes (CAPEX) and cost reduction strategies.
• Knowledge of environmental, occupational safety, and health regulations.
