About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer - Custody to join our dynamic team at Kraken. As a fully remote position, this role allows you to work from anywhere in the European Union, contributing to the future of crypto. What You'll Do

• Integrate existing systems with new blockchains to enhance our custody services.
• Design and implement low-latency, high-availability applications that prioritize security and data protection.
• Collaborate with a talented team of Rust Engineers, cryptographers, and hardware experts to deliver innovative solutions.
• Build and maintain scalable, high-volume services that support our growing customer base.
• Write reusable, testable, and efficient code to ensure the reliability of our crypto services.

Requirements

• 5 to 10 years of experience as a backend developer, with a strong focus on Rust, C++, or Go.
• Experience with blockchain daemons such as Bitcoind or Litecoind.
• Solid understanding of cryptographic concepts and their application in secure environments.
• Proficiency in Docker, Kubernetes, and GNU/Linux.
• Hands-on experience with distributed systems and messaging platforms like Kafka.

Nice to Have

• Senior leadership experience with mentoring capabilities.
• Familiarity with embedded systems and custodial cryptographic techniques.
• Experience implementing algorithms in constrained environments.
