About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Aboriginal Advisor to join our team at EPA Victoria. This is a unique opportunity for a dedicated professional to work remotely while providing strategic leadership and support to build meaningful relationships with Traditional Owner groups and Aboriginal communities. As a Senior Aboriginal Advisor, you will play a crucial role in enhancing our engagement with First Nations peoples and ensuring that our initiatives align with the values and needs of Aboriginal Victorians.
What You'll Do
- Provide strategic advice to effectively build relationships and partnerships with Traditional Owners and Aboriginal Victorians.
- Identify emerging complex or highly sensitive issues, risks, and trends impacting the successful achievement of EPA’s strategic priorities.
- Maintain strong networks and relationships across state and local government agencies, businesses, and community organizations.
- Deliver high-quality support and engagement across EPA to foster partnerships with Traditional Owners and Aboriginal Victorians.
- Support the EPA’s capacity as a culturally safe and inclusive organization.
Requirements
- Demonstrated senior-level experience working effectively with diverse Traditional Owner groups and Aboriginal Victorians.
- Strong understanding of Victorian Aboriginal cultures and societies, including Traditional Owner groups.
- Knowledge of environmental regulation as it relates to pollution and waste is desirable.
- Ability to ensure engagement approaches are culturally informed and inclusive.
- Proven record of developing and executing strategic initiatives that build and maintain respectful relationships.
Nice to Have
- Experience in environmental policy development.
- Familiarity with community engagement frameworks.
- Previous roles in government or non-profit organizations focused on Aboriginal affairs.
