Mid-Senior High Voltage Substation Design Engineer - Remote

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled High Voltage Substation Design Engineer to join our team at Sargent & Lundy. This remote position offers you the chance to collaborate with a dynamic project team focused on high voltage substation design. You will play a crucial role in preparing essential design deliverables, including Single Line Relaying & Metering Diagrams, AC & DC Schematic Diagrams, and Equipment Interconnection Wiring Diagrams.

What You'll Do

• Prepare and review wiring diagrams for high voltage substations (138kV and above).
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior designers.
• Interpret vendor information and incorporate it into design deliverables.
• Conduct walkdowns at client substation facilities to ensure design accuracy.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high-quality standards.

Requirements

• A minimum of 7 years of experience in high voltage substation design.
• An Associate's Degree in drafting or equivalent technical experience.
• Advanced knowledge of computer drafting tools such as AutoCAD or MicroStation.
• Ability to visualize parts in 3D without computer assistance.
• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English (reading, speaking, and writing).

• Experience in mentoring or leading design teams.
• Knowledge of electrical engineering principles and practices.
• Familiarity with industry standards and regulations.
