Financial Analyst I - Remote Opportunity with City of Vancouver
About the Role
We are seeking a Financial Analyst I to join the City of Vancouver in a remote capacity. This role plays a vital part in delivering Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis functions within Capital processes. As a Financial Analyst I, you will work closely with departmental FP&A teams and senior staff members to ensure effective financial management and reporting.
What You'll Do
- Lead the coordination, analysis, and monitoring of the City’s annual Capital budget.
- Develop and refine budget policies and strategies, making recommendations to improve processes.
- Analyze large datasets to produce monthly and quarterly reporting packages.
- Monitor and analyze departmental expenditures and implement approved budgetary changes.
- Assist departments in resolving financial issues and provide consultation on corporate initiatives.
- Identify areas for process improvements within FP&A and lead project implementations.
Requirements
- An undergraduate degree and a professional accounting designation or MBA.
- Extensive experience in budgeting, forecasting, and reporting within a large organization.
- Advanced financial systems experience, preferably with SAP and Business Intelligence reporting.
- Strong Excel skills, including the ability to work with large datasets and create pivot tables.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Nice to Have
- Project management experience.
- Formal report writing experience.
- Knowledge of local government accounting principles.
