Electrical/Fibre Maintenance Engineer - On-Site Role
About the Role
We are seeking an Electrical/Fibre Maintenance Engineer to join our team at QinetiQ in Portsmouth, England. This role is crucial as you will be responsible for the maintenance of GFX equipment and services within our facility. As an Electrical/Fibre Maintenance Engineer, you will work closely with various teams to ensure the highest standards of electrical and fibre optic installations.
What You'll Do
- Conduct initial verification and periodic inspection of electrical installations.
- Test, inspect, and record the fibre optic cross-site capability on-site.
- Support the Electrical Lead and Ops Configuration Manager in planning and completing tasking tool activities.
- Lead and collaborate with the team to ensure that electrical, fibre, and data infrastructure installation work meets the highest standards.
- Assist the Electrical Lead in creating suitable Electrical Design Packages for installation activities.
- Mentor electrical apprentices under the guidance of the Electrical Lead.
Requirements
- Minimum NVQ level 3 in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience in either fibre optic or electrical maintenance.
- Previous experience working in a team environment.
- Experience in fibre optic or electrical testing.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Nice to Have
- Experience with advanced technology development.
- Knowledge of GFX equipment.
- Previous mentoring experience.
