Vice President of Technology - Remote Leadership Role

About the Role

We are seeking a strategic and experienced Vice President of Technology to join our mission-driven team at New Classrooms. As a Vice President of Technology remote position, you will lead our technical execution, ensuring the scalability and reliability of our innovative software platform. This role is pivotal in reimagining math education for students across the nation.

What You'll Do

• Set and execute engineering strategies aligned with company goals and product vision.
• Lead, mentor, and manage a diverse engineering team, including directors of engineering, quality assurance, IT/cybersecurity, and development operations.
• Establish clear technical standards and best practices across teams to foster a high-performing remote-first engineering culture.
• Provide executive-level technical leadership for a full-stack platform, ensuring robust architecture and high-quality user experiences.
• Drive continuous improvement in our CI/CD pipeline to support reliable deployments.
• Oversee the development of our data warehouse and business intelligence initiatives, ensuring they meet organizational needs.
• Manage technology budgets and vendor relationships to ensure cost efficiency and quality.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to communicate technical strategies and risks effectively.

Requirements

• 10+ years of progressive engineering experience, including significant leadership at the director or VP level.
• Proven experience in leading teams that build and operate large-scale, cloud-based software platforms.
• Deep familiarity with microservices architectures, APIs (GraphQL and REST), and system integrations.
• Strong understanding of AWS infrastructure and modern CI/CD practices.
• Experience managing engineering leaders and owning technology budgets.
• Track record of delivering complex software systems in fast-paced environments.

Nice to Have

• Experience with data modeling and ETL/ELT development.
• Familiarity with education technology and data privacy standards.
• Knowledge of emerging tools and practices, including AI-assisted engineering.
