About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated University Flats Warden to join our team at the University of Otago. This full-time position offers a unique opportunity to lead a significant residential accommodation portfolio while ensuring a high-quality living experience for students. As a University Flats Warden, you will be responsible for overseeing the operational aspects of our residential community, which includes approximately 900 rooms across more than 200 properties. This role is pivotal in fostering a safe, inclusive, and academically supportive environment for our international and postgraduate students.

What You'll Do

  • Provide leadership and operational oversight for the residential accommodation portfolio.
  • Manage the portfolio-wide budget, ensuring financial performance and regulatory compliance.
  • Optimize systems and processes to enhance service delivery and resident satisfaction.
  • Oversee resident selection and allocations, maintaining high property and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with the International Office and Student Services to support student needs.
  • Cultivate a culture of accountability and continuous improvement within the UniFlats community.
  • Lead a multidisciplinary team, ensuring effective communication and resource prioritization.
  • Contribute to the broader Campus and Collegiate Life Services Division.

Requirements

  • A relevant degree or equivalent experience in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record in management, budget handling, and organizational skills.
  • Experience working with international and postgraduate students.
  • Strong administrative and financial acumen.
  • Excellent communication skills across various media.
  • Ability to prioritize competing demands effectively.
  • Commitment to fostering a collegial and supportive community.
