Substation Engineer - Remote Opportunity

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Substation Engineer remote to join our innovative team at Westinghouse Electric Company. This role will allow you to contribute to our mission of providing clean energy solutions while working on exciting substation projects from conception through construction and commissioning.

What You'll Do

• Collaborate with the Early-Stage Project Manager to support engineering requirements and project scope.
• Manage engineering consulting resources and develop scopes of work for various substation projects.
• Coordinate with project team members and transmission owners to secure switchyard sites and necessary permits.
• Source and contract geotechnical, survey, engineering, and construction services.
• Represent E&C's interests in project meetings, providing updates on progress, issues, and risk mitigation strategies.
• Support Transmission Services in reviewing interconnection documentation and ensuring compliance with design requirements.
• Oversee long lead material orders to minimize project delays and budget overruns.
• Assist in creating and approving Statements of Work (SOW) for engineering services and materials.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil/Structural Engineering.
• 11+ years of experience in substation design and engineering of high voltage projects.
• Project Engineering or Project Management experience, with PMP or P.E. certification preferred.
• Willingness to travel within North America as required.
• Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with various stakeholders.

Nice to Have

• Experience with renewable energy projects.
• Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance standards in the energy sector.
• Proficiency in engineering software tools.
