Student Assistant - Cloud Platforms (Remote)

About the Role

We are looking for a Student Assistant - Cloud Platforms (Remote) to join our Cloud Engineering Team at Uniper. This role is an excellent opportunity for students pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Management, or Cloud Engineering. As a Student Assistant, you will support the configuration and maintenance of Azure Monitor, including Log Analytics Workspaces, Dashboards, Application Insights, alert rules, and Action Groups to monitor the state and performance of resources.

What You'll Do

• Assist in configuring and maintaining Azure Monitor and related services.
• Implement the Cloud Observability concept by defining and instrumenting metrics, logs, and traces across Azure services.
• Identify common issues related to cloud resources and translate them into KQL queries, dashboards, and actionable alerts/playbooks.
• Maintain clear documentation on telemetry standards, alert optimization policies, and troubleshooting runbooks.
• Work independently in a remote environment while collaborating with team members to achieve common goals.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a degree program in Computer Science, Information Management, Cloud Engineering, or a related field.
• Basic understanding of cloud monitoring concepts and interest in working with Azure Monitor and Log Analytics.
• Ability to translate technical insights into clear documentation or simple dashboards/queries.
• Curiosity and willingness to learn Azure monitoring tools, KQL, and observability best practices.
• Good command of English, both written and spoken.
• Optional: Experience with Azure services such as Azure Monitor and Log Analytics.
• Basic knowledge of monitoring or observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana) is a plus.
• Familiarity with KQL (Kusto Query Language) for data analysis in Log Analytics.
• Availability for at least 6 months, ideally 12 months or longer.

Nice to Have

• Experience with cloud platforms and services.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices.
• Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell).
