Staff Data Engineer - Cloud-Native Platform

About the Role

We are seeking a Staff Data Engineer to join our team at Policy Expert, where you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of data. This Staff Data Engineer remote position is an exciting opportunity to influence how data platforms are built and evolved across our organization.

What You'll Do

• Lead the development of our cloud-native Data & Analytics Platform on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Shape the next phase of data engineering, ensuring reliability, operability, and ease of use.
• Own complex, cross-cutting problems and lead initiatives that span multiple teams.
• Raise the technical bar by evolving our data engineering architecture and standards.
• Mentor senior engineers and empower teams to make informed decisions.
• Collaborate with Data Science and Data Management to ensure alignment and governance.

Requirements

• Significant experience in building and evolving data engineering systems at scale.
• Strong cloud experience, particularly with GCP; AWS experience is a plus.
• Proven ability to operate across multiple teams and domains.
• Excellent system-level thinking with an understanding of second- and third-order effects.
• Experience in regulated environments such as GDPR.
• Strong communication skills and a pragmatic mindset.

Nice to Have

• Experience with data integration patterns, both batch and streaming.
• Familiarity with Terraform, GitHub Actions, and CI/CD practices.
• Knowledge of analytics and machine learning enablement.
