Signal Electrician - Remote Opportunities Available
About the Role
Join Queensland Rail as a Signal Electrician and connect Queensland’s rail network while enjoying the flexibility of remote work opportunities. Our Regional Assets division plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of Queensland’s rail services. As a Signal Electrician, you will be part of a dedicated team responsible for maintaining and upgrading signalling equipment across the North Coast and Tablelands lines.
What You'll Do
- Install, maintain, repair, and adjust electrical signalling equipment.
- Undertake scheduled maintenance activities on signalling equipment.
- Attend signalling failures to analyze, repair, and report on causes.
- Maintain records and documentation related to signal maintenance and costing systems.
- Report on actual work performed against the scheduled work program and report any equipment irregularities.
- Work predominantly between the hours of 0715 to 1615 on a 9-day fortnight.
Requirements
- Certificate IV in Railway Signalling.
- A current ‘C’ Class Driver's License.
- A Current Queensland Electrical Mechanic License or interstate equivalent.
- Experience in the installation, maintenance, and fault rectification of signalling equipment.
- Capacity to travel and work within regional Queensland.
Nice to Have
- Experience in a rail environment.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance.
- Strong problem-solving skills.

Who Will Succeed Here
Proficient in Electrical Signalling systems and capable of performing fault rectification using tools like multimeters and oscilloscopes, ensuring safety compliance with Australian standards.
Self-motivated and disciplined to thrive in a remote work environment, able to manage time effectively and meet deadlines while maintaining high standards of safety and quality in installation and maintenance tasks.
Middle-level experience with a proactive mindset towards continuous improvement, willing to adopt new technologies and methodologies in electrical signalling to enhance operational efficiency.
