Senior Systems Engineer - Defense Technology Solutions

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join our team in Sydney, Australia. In this Senior Systems Engineer remote position, you will play a pivotal role in developing mission-critical solutions for defense, government, and critical infrastructure operators worldwide. Your contributions will help shape both current and next-generation capabilities, ensuring reliability, performance, and precision in our products.

What You'll Do

• Translate stakeholder and operational needs into clear, system-level requirements for complex and effector solutions.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams (hardware, software, AI, RF) to deliver integrated system architectures.
• Maintain and evolve system documentation including requirements, interfaces, and integration approaches.
• Drive and support system integration and validation activities to ensure end-to-end performance.
• Champion systems engineering best practices and contribute to process improvements across development programs.
• Act as a technical bridge between engineering teams, product leadership, and external or internal stakeholders.
• Identify technical risks, dependencies, and trade-offs, managing them throughout the product lifecycle.
• Lead technical investigations and root-cause analysis, taking ownership of issues through resolution.

Requirements

• Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent industry experience.
• Experience contributing to the design and delivery of complex, multi-disciplinary systems.
• Strong grasp of systems engineering frameworks, tools, and full lifecycle development processes.
• Demonstrated capability in requirements definition, management, and traceability across hardware and software domains.
• Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively within diverse engineering teams.
• Hands-on exposure to system integration, testing, and verification activities.
• Familiarity with requirements or project tracking platforms such as Jira or similar tools.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to tailor technical information to varied audiences.

Nice to Have

• Experience with defense technology systems.
• Knowledge of regulatory compliance in defense and aerospace sectors.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
