Senior Security Engineer - Remote Opportunity at Tenable

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Security Engineer to join our team at Tenable, a leader in Exposure Management. This remote Security Engineer role is an exciting opportunity to work with a company that supports 44,000 organizations globally, including 65% of the Fortune 500. You will play a crucial role in driving the pre-sales process for our full solution stack across Austria, translating complex technical capabilities into tangible business value.

What You'll Do

• Become a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Exposure Management and a trusted advisor to leading organizations in Austria.
• Drive exposure management and remediation efforts by prioritizing issues, implementing mitigations, and designing strategic preventative controls.
• Meet with prospective clients to uncover security challenges and high-priority business drivers regarding cyber exposure.
• Collaborate with regional sales and channel teams to drive Tenable’s business growth in the DACH market.
• Map Tenable’s unique value to customer challenges through Proof-of-Value (PoV) engagements, technical workshops, and tailored demos.
• Lead technical responses to RFPs/RFIs and influence product direction by providing feedback from the Austrian market back to our engineering teams.
• Act as the face and voice of Tenable across Austria, speaking at key industry events and providing thought leadership.

Requirements

• A solid understanding of Exposure Management and Unified Vulnerability Management (VM).
• Deep knowledge of modern, decentralized IT architectures, including Hybrid-Cloud, Multi-Cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP), and Edge Computing.
• Prior experience in a security-related technical pre-sales role, with the ability to craft custom demos.
• Confidence in leading discussions from technical sessions to C-suite executive presentations.
• Strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and a self-starter attitude.
• Professional fluency in German and English is essential.
• Willingness to travel within Austria and the broader DACH region (typically 25%).

Nice to Have

• Knowledge of Cloud Computing (CNAPP, CIEM, CSPM, CWP) and modern automation.
• 5+ years of experience in a direct Sales Engineering role in the DACH security market.
• Understanding of the “AI Exposure Gap” and securing Large Language Model (LLM) architectures.
• Experience with Operational Technology (OT) and Cyber-physical systems.
• A strong grasp of the compliance landscape impacting local enterprises, specifically NIS2, DORA, TISAX, and GDPR.
• Industry-recognized credentials.
