Senior Backend Engineer - AI Solutions

About the Role

We're hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to join TrustLab's innovative team. In this Senior Backend Engineer remote position, you will play a crucial role in designing and building high-performance backend systems that support AI-driven workflows and large-scale data processing.

What You'll Do

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services in Python.
• Architect APIs and microservices with clean, maintainable abstractions.
• Work with large datasets and asynchronous processing pipelines.
• Optimize performance, reliability, and observability of backend systems.
• Contribute to system design discussions and technical roadmap decisions.
• Collaborate closely with frontend and AI/ML engineers.
• Write production-quality, testable, secure code.
• Participate in code reviews and uphold a high engineering bar.

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience.
• Strong production experience in Python (FastAPI, Django, Flask, or similar).
• Experience designing RESTful APIs and service-oriented architectures.
• Solid understanding of databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and query optimization.
• Experience with async processing, queues (SQS, Kafka), or event-driven systems.
• Strong understanding of system design, scalability, and performance.

Nice to Have

• Experience working with coding agents (Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, or similar).
• Experience deploying and operating services on AWS (or another major cloud provider).
• Experience building or integrating AI agent systems (LLM workflows, tool-use, orchestration frameworks, or evaluation pipelines).
