Senior Research & Development Engineer - AI Focus

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Research & Development Engineer (AI Focus) remote to join our innovative team at Alan. In this role, you will be at the forefront of developing cutting-edge AI systems that will revolutionize healthcare. Our mission is to provide personalized medical expertise through an intelligent, multimodal LLM-based conversational AI assistant. What You'll Do

• Develop and evaluate foundation models and fine-tuned architectures for structured clinical reasoning.
• Work with curated datasets, including clinical cases and EMRs, to build doctor-like reasoning agents.
• Augment generation with structured clinical knowledge using retrieval pipelines and hallucination-mitigation strategies.
• Research and deploy streaming speech recognition and context-aware state switching for real-time dialogue.
• Design and run evaluation frameworks for clinical AI to understand and improve agent performance.
• Explore architectures for dynamic memory and personalized reasoning to enhance user experience.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in AI research or equivalent research track record.
• Strong background in machine learning, deep learning, and large-scale model training.
• Experience with LLMs, RLHF, multi-agent systems, and speech processing is a plus.
• Product-minded approach, eager to see research applied in real-world scenarios.
• Fluency in English is required; no need to speak French.
