Senior Mechanical Design Engineer - Innovative Music Tech

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our innovative team at elasticStage, a cutting-edge music tech company. This role offers the opportunity to redefine the physical and digital music industry through our groundbreaking on-demand vinyl record technology. As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will lead the design and development of mechanical systems from concept through production, playing a critical role in translating product requirements into robust, manufacturable solutions.

What You'll Do

• Lead mechanical design projects from concept development through production release.
• Develop system architectures, detailed 3D models, and production drawings.
• Perform tolerance analysis, engineering calculations, DFMEA, and risk assessments.
• Drive prototype builds, testing, validation, and iterative design improvements.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with electrical, firmware, manufacturing, supply chain, and quality teams.
• Partner with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure DFM/DFA alignment.
• Identify technical risks early and implement mitigation strategies.
• Contribute to design standards, engineering best practices, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 6+ years of experience in mechanical design and product development.
• Proven experience taking products from concept through production.
• Advanced proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks, Creo, NX, Fusion, or similar).
• Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and GD&T.
• Experience with prototyping, validation testing, and production support.
• Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.

Nice to Have

• Knowledge of or willingness to learn about vinyl production processes is a plus.
• Experience working with small or scaling teams is a bonus.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status is preferred.
