Senior Product Designer - Design Systems for Grocery Tech

About the Role

We're looking for a Senior Product Designer to join our team at Instacart. This Senior Product Designer remote position is an exciting opportunity to lead the design systems that will shape the grocery delivery experience for millions. You will own the design system as a product, ensuring its quality, usability, scalability, and adoption.

What You'll Do

• Drive the design system roadmap by prioritizing based on product needs and system health.
• Define and evolve component and pattern UX, including interaction states and accessibility defaults.
• Establish and maintain system governance, including contribution standards and review processes.
• Collaborate with design technologists and engineers to ensure design-to-code fidelity.
• Measure adoption and impact, and execute enablement programs that reduce rework.

Requirements

• 6+ years in product design with proven experience in maintaining a design system.
• Strong design fundamentals and mastery of design systems.
• Technical fluency in component-based workflows.
• Experience with AI/automation to improve workflow impact.
• Bachelor’s degree in Design, HCI, or a related field.

Nice to Have

• Experience with AI-assisted coding environments.
• Strong foundation in human-centered design methodologies.
• Proven ability to facilitate design sprints and collaborative ideation sessions.
