About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Informix Database Administrator (DBA) remote to join our team. This role is critical for managing production database design and administration, providing 24x7 support, and ensuring high availability of our systems.

What You'll Do

  • Manage and administer Informix databases, ensuring optimal performance and security.
  • Provide 24x7 production support, incident management, and change management.
  • Perform performance tuning, backup & recovery, and manage replication and clustering.
  • Implement and maintain database security, user roles, and access controls.
  • Mentor junior DBAs and collaborate cross-functionally to enhance database operations.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience as an Informix DBA, with a strong focus on production support.
  • Proficiency in Unix/Linux platforms and SQL optimization.
  • Hands-on experience with backup & restore tools such as Veritas NetBackup, NetVault, or Tivoli.
  • Experience in managing high availability and replication in Informix environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills, with the ability to work under pressure.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in mentoring junior DBAs.
  • Excellent communication skills and customer-facing experience.
  • Familiarity with other database systems (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server) is a plus.
