Senior Game Designer - Systems for Defense Simulation

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Game Designer to join our innovative team at Anduril Industries, focusing on systems design for defense simulations. This Senior Game Designer remote position will allow you to leverage your expertise in creating engaging gameplay systems that enhance military training and operational effectiveness.

What You'll Do

• Design and develop core gameplay systems, including unit behavior models and decision-making frameworks for military simulations.
• Create detailed combat systems that accurately model weapons effectiveness and battlefield outcomes.
• Collaborate with AI programmers to design behavior trees and finite state machines that drive realistic simulation behavior.
• Work closely with engineering teams to implement sensor modeling systems such as radar and sonar.
• Prototype gameplay systems to validate concepts before full implementation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Game Design, Computer Science, or related field.
• 5+ years of professional experience in systems design for games or interactive simulations.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating systems design work for complex interactive applications.
• Experience with behavior trees and AI-driven gameplay systems.
• Excellent documentation skills and the ability to present design concepts to stakeholders.

Nice to Have

• Experience designing RTS games or military simulations.
• Knowledge of XR design principles.
• Background in AI design for games or simulations.
