Senior Design Engineer - Design Systems for AI-Powered Communications

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Design Engineer (Remote) to join our innovative team at Dialpad. This role is pivotal in shaping our Design System (Dialtone) and enhancing user experiences through cutting-edge design and engineering practices.

What You'll Do

• Oversee the front-end design strategy of our Design System, ensuring a cohesive user experience.
• Lead the design and development of experimental interfaces and internal tools that facilitate rapid prototyping and testing.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI capabilities into user flows, enhancing product functionality.
• Prototype production-quality designs using modern front-end frameworks and our design system.
• Champion best practices in design and engineering, mentoring peers and fostering a culture of innovation.
• Act as a guardian of consistency, ensuring adherence to a unified design system across teams.
• Invest in the growth of the Design organization by sharing knowledge and building community around creative prototyping.
• Navigate ambiguity with confidence, helping teams clarify ideas and move towards impactful solutions.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in design engineering, with a strong portfolio showcasing innovative work.
• Proficiency in front-end technologies such as Vue, React, Angular, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Experience with design systems, component libraries, and UI patterns that scale product development.
• Ability to design and build tools that streamline workflows between design and engineering teams.
• Demonstrated experience in building AI/ML-driven features and prototypes.
• Strong understanding of UX principles, accessibility, and inclusive design practices.
• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas clearly to stakeholders.
• Curiosity about emerging design trends and a commitment to continuous learning.

Nice to Have

• Experience in a SaaS environment, particularly with AI-powered products.
• Familiarity with front-end build systems and package management tools.
• Engagement in the design community through open-source contributions or public speaking.
