Senior Data Scientist - Remote Position at Airbnb

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join our team at Airbnb. This Senior Data Scientist remote position focuses on enhancing trust and safety within our platform by developing advanced AI-driven models. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the integrity of user-generated content, which is vital for maintaining the trust of our community.

What You'll Do

• Develop and implement Natural Language Processing (NLP) and LLM-based models to understand intent, policy compliance, and quality across various content types.
• Build high-performing models for detecting problematic or misleading content, utilizing techniques such as text classification and semantic similarity.
• Design and optimize human-in-the-loop Machine Learning (ML) systems for content review and continuous model improvement.
• Create systems to identify emerging content risks and abuse patterns using statistical and ML approaches.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful research reports and data visualizations.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in a quantitative analysis role with a Master’s degree in a quantitative field, or 2+ years with a Ph.D.
• Hands-on experience with NLP and LLM-based solutions.
• Proficient in statistical programming (Python or R) and database management (SQL).
• Strong communication skills to convey complex findings to diverse audiences.
• Ability to manage projects effectively and collaborate with various teams.

Nice to Have

• Experience in Trust & Safety roles.
• Knowledge of causal inference methodologies.
• Familiarity with content integrity systems.
