Senior Business Intelligence Engineer - Power BI Expert

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Business Intelligence Engineer to join our fully remote team at Heyclue. In this role, you will architect and maintain certified semantic datasets and dashboards in Power BI and Sigma. As a Senior Business Intelligence Engineer remote, you will ensure that reports are accurate, fast, and trustworthy by design.

What You'll Do

• Design and implement semantic data models (star schemas, dimension tables, fact tables) for BI.
• Create version-controlled datasets in Power BI or Sigma with standardized KPI definitions and clear lineage.
• Develop automated pre-publish validations for datasets to check row counts, data freshness, and parity of calculated metrics.
• Build executive scorecards and dashboards, embedding telemetry to track report usage and performance.
• Incorporate data quality test results into visual reports and partner with data engineering teams to align data contracts with BI reports.
• Train analysts on model best practices and document all models, dashboards, and processes in Confluence.

Requirements

• Advanced skills in Power BI Desktop (Power Query/M, DAX) and Power BI Service.
• Experience with Sigma Computing, building and securing data models.
• Strong SQL skills (Snowflake or similar) for transforming and loading data.
• Ability to script or schedule dataset validation checks using Python or SQL.
• Basic knowledge of web analytics tools (GTM, GA4) is helpful.

Nice to Have

• Experience with other BI platforms (Tableau, Looker) or semantic layers.
• Knowledge of advanced data modeling methodologies (Data Vault, Kimball).
• Skills in UX design for dashboards to ensure visual best practices.
