Senior Android Engineer - Remote Position for LATAM

About the Role

We're hiring a Senior Android Engineer to join our dynamic team at Nearsure, a Nortal company. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled engineer to work remotely in LATAM, contributing to impactful projects that enhance lives worldwide. As a Senior Android Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and evolving our MaxPreps Android app, focusing on ad and video integration, native Android development, and operational excellence.

What You'll Do

• Lead the development, maintenance, and support of the MaxPreps Android app using Kotlin and standard open-source libraries.
• Drive the transition of ad placements from third-party to the Client’s owned ad service, ensuring seamless integration of ad and video features.
• Manage and optimize Firebase and Google API integrations; oversee notification frameworks (Firebase, Airship).
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle: requirements gathering, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and monitoring.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, product, client services) to define and deliver new features and improvements.
• Ensure code quality through code reviews, unit testing, and adherence to best practices.
• Independently monitor app performance, triage issues, and communicate status to stakeholders; contribute to the product roadmap.
• Support CI/CD deployment processes, aligning Android releases with iOS and ensuring incremental, reliable updates.
• Stay current with Android trends, tools, and best practices; contribute to the adoption of AI-assisted development tools as appropriate.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience working with Android and Kotlin.
• Experience working with Android SDK, UI/UX design principles, and open-source libraries.
• Experience working with Firebase, Google APIs, and ad/video integration.
• Experience in API design.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines.
• Advanced English level is required for this role, as you will work with US clients.
