About the Role
We're hiring a Remote Security Infrastructure Engineer to join our innovative team at Tailscale. In this role, you'll be instrumental in enhancing the security of our infrastructure and ensuring that our software remains secure for users worldwide. As a Remote Security Infrastructure Engineer, you'll collaborate with highly technical teams to develop and implement security measures that protect our network and user data.
What You'll Do
- Design and build security controls across various layers, including cloud platforms, operating systems, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Identify and implement security and privacy features, bug fixes, and defense-in-depth strategies to improve Tailscale's security posture.
- Conduct audits of Tailscale infrastructure to identify technical security weaknesses and drive solutions to resolution.
- Support engineering decisions with threat modeling and security analysis.
- Spend 25-50% of your time writing software, balancing operational and governance responsibilities.
Requirements
- Technical expertise in securing cloud platforms, particularly AWS, and designing cloud-agnostic systems.
- Familiarity with container security, orchestration security, and authentication/authorization protocols.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language (Tailscale uses Go) and Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or Ansible.
- Prior experience in a safety-related technical role, including infrastructure security and incident response.
- Knowledge of operating system internals, security mechanisms, and common networking protocols.
