Red Winemaker - Remote Opportunity

About the Role

We’re looking for a Red Winemaker remote to join our team at Vinarchy. This role supports the Senior Red Winemaker and plays a key part in producing high-quality red and fortified wines for our global portfolio. You’ll be hands-on across the full winemaking process - from grape intake to bottling - and work closely with Cellar, Laboratory, Packaging, and Viticulture teams. You'll also contribute to daily operations, planning, decision-making, and continuous improvement across the site.

What You'll Do

  • Oversee receival and evaluation of red grape intake and vineyard assessments to meet quality and style requirements.
  • Monitor red fermentations and provide technical direction to support optimal outcomes.
  • Lead daily ferment tastings and generate accurate work orders for cellar teams.
  • Manage red wine blending, additions, filtrations, bulk movements, and storage to meet quality and volume needs.
  • Prepare red wines for packaging ensuring all specifications and deadlines are met.
  • Contribute to weekly and monthly work planning and translate plans into clear instructions for operational teams.
  • Support continuous improvement projects focused on efficiency, quality, and sustainability.
  • Build strong working relationships across Winemaking, Cellar, Laboratory, Packaging, and Viticulture.
  • Maintain accurate records for bulk and bottled wines.

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in Oenology, Wine Science, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years hands-on winery or winemaking experience, including strong exposure to red styles.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver wines of consistent and recognised quality.
  • Confident management of red winemaking processes including fermentation, blending, bulk wine movements, and packaging preparation.
  • Comfortable working with winery quality systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong understanding of compliance, quality systems, and workplace safety.
  • Collaborative communicator able to work across multiple teams and mentor junior staff.
  • Composed, reliable, and organised, with a commitment to continuous learning.
