Red Winemaker - Remote Opportunity
About the Role
We’re looking for a Red Winemaker remote to join our team at Vinarchy. This role supports the Senior Red Winemaker and plays a key part in producing high-quality red and fortified wines for our global portfolio. You’ll be hands-on across the full winemaking process - from grape intake to bottling - and work closely with Cellar, Laboratory, Packaging, and Viticulture teams. You'll also contribute to daily operations, planning, decision-making, and continuous improvement across the site.
What You'll Do
- Oversee receival and evaluation of red grape intake and vineyard assessments to meet quality and style requirements.
- Monitor red fermentations and provide technical direction to support optimal outcomes.
- Lead daily ferment tastings and generate accurate work orders for cellar teams.
- Manage red wine blending, additions, filtrations, bulk movements, and storage to meet quality and volume needs.
- Prepare red wines for packaging ensuring all specifications and deadlines are met.
- Contribute to weekly and monthly work planning and translate plans into clear instructions for operational teams.
- Support continuous improvement projects focused on efficiency, quality, and sustainability.
- Build strong working relationships across Winemaking, Cellar, Laboratory, Packaging, and Viticulture.
- Maintain accurate records for bulk and bottled wines.
Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in Oenology, Wine Science, or a related field.
- At least 5 years hands-on winery or winemaking experience, including strong exposure to red styles.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver wines of consistent and recognised quality.
- Confident management of red winemaking processes including fermentation, blending, bulk wine movements, and packaging preparation.
- Comfortable working with winery quality systems and Microsoft Office.
- Strong understanding of compliance, quality systems, and workplace safety.
- Collaborative communicator able to work across multiple teams and mentor junior staff.
- Composed, reliable, and organised, with a commitment to continuous learning.
