Product Designer Intern - Fully Remote Opportunity

About the Role

We're excited to offer a Product Designer Intern - Remote position at Votely. This opportunity is tailored for those passionate about enhancing civic engagement through design. As a Product Designer Intern, you'll work on core user flows and contribute to real features that will be utilized by tens of thousands of users. Your role will involve collaborating closely with engineering and product teams to transform complex civic concepts into intuitive user experiences.

What You'll Do

• Design key user flows from landing page to quiz to results to action.
• Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs using Figma.
• Enhance clarity and completion rates through effective information and interaction design.
• Design new features for our Action Hub, focusing on discovery, filtering, action details, and progress tracking.
• Contribute to and help maintain our design system, including components, patterns, and tokens.
• Conduct lightweight user research such as interviews and usability tests, and synthesize insights to inform design decisions.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a degree in Design, HCI, or a related field, or possess equivalent self-taught experience.
• A strong portfolio showcasing product thinking and interaction design skills.
• Proficiency in Figma, including components, auto-layout, and prototyping.
• Ability to articulate design decisions and provide constructive feedback.
• Understanding of accessibility principles and inclusive design practices.
• Available for 10-12 weeks, working 40 hours per week.

Nice to Have

• Experience designing for mobile-first or responsive web experiences.
• Familiarity with design systems and component libraries.
• Basic understanding of HTML/CSS and how designs translate to code.
• Experience with motion design or micro-interactions.
• Background in user research methods.
