About the Role

Menlo Security is seeking a Principal Engineer (Auth) remote to lead our authentication service, which is crucial for our browser security product. As a Principal Engineer, you will have the opportunity to shape the security landscape for our clients, including Fortune 500 companies and global banks. This role is pivotal as every user request flows through the authentication service, making your decisions impactful for security, performance, and system evolution.

What You'll Do

• Lead the design and implementation of our authentication service, ensuring it meets the highest standards of security and performance.
• Utilize your strong systems programming background in Rust or Go to build and maintain production systems.
• Focus on performance optimization, employing profiling tools and efficient concurrency models to enhance latency and throughput.
• Implement secure systems with a proactive approach to threat modeling and vulnerability mitigation.
• Drive the transition from legacy codebases to robust architectures, prioritizing maintainability and security.
• Employ comprehensive testing strategies, including fuzzing and integration tests, to validate system correctness.
• Mentor team members on best practices for secure software development and articulate architectural decisions effectively.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand customer needs and refine requirements.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience building and operating production systems.
• Strong proficiency in Rust or Go is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to optimize networked applications for performance.
• Experience with asynchronous programming and high concurrency services.
• Commitment to testing and verification practices.

• Experience with AI tools and their strategic application in software development.
• Familiarity with secure coding practices and threat modeling.
