People and Culture Operations Manager - Healthcare

About the Role

As our People and Culture Operations Manager, you’ll be the trusted subject matter expert at the heart of our People & Culture function - partnering with senior leaders and the wider P&C team to deliver best-practice outcomes across employment and industrial relations, remuneration and benefits, performance management, people metrics, policies, processes, and technology. This People and Culture Operations Manager remote role is critical in translating strategy into practical, scalable solutions that enable a high-performing, engaged culture aligned to the values and purpose of Southern Cross Healthcare.

What You'll Do

  • Lead with confidence in complex and sensitive spaces, providing pragmatic, values-led advice on employee relations matters, change processes, collective bargaining, and union engagement.
  • Lift organisational capability by coaching leaders, developing clear frameworks, and building robust, consistent ER practices that balance compliance, commercial reality, and fairness.
  • Stay ahead of legislative change and emerging best practices, ensuring our people frameworks evolve with confidence and clarity.
  • Drive operational excellence across remuneration, benefits, performance management, and HR systems.
  • Support annual remuneration and performance cycles, shape benefits strategy, improve people metrics, and optimize P&C technology.

Requirements

  • 7+ years’ experience in a specialist or senior HR generalist role within a complex organization.
  • Strong capability across employment relations, NZ employment law, remuneration and benefits, performance management, and HR policies.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, employment relations, or a related discipline.
  • Ability to build credibility and trusted partnerships with leaders and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the confidence to advise, coach, listen, challenge, and influence.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in NZ employment law and/or remuneration frameworks.
  • Health sector experience is welcomed but not essential.
