PC Technician - Linux/Nix Workstations (Remote)
About the Role
We are seeking a motivated PC Technician - Linux/Nix Workstations (Remote) to deliver a smooth and reliable developer experience. What You'll Do
- Provision, configure, and maintain Linux workstations (primarily Debian-based and NixOS) for developers and power users.
- Standardize workstation setups using Nix to ensure consistent and easily restorable environments.
- Provide hardware lifecycle support, including imaging, onboarding, replacements, and troubleshooting of peripherals.
- Automate common workstation operations through setup scripts and configuration management.
- Collaborate with engineers on Linux subsystems and developer tooling needs to continuously improve the workstation platform.
Requirements
- Practical technical background with Linux desktop administration and troubleshooting (Debian/Ubuntu and/or NixOS).
- Familiarity with Nix package management and basic NixOS configuration.
- Experience in hardware troubleshooting for workstations, including storage, graphics, drivers, and networking.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation (Bash/shell; Python is a plus).
- Understanding of basic networking concepts relevant for workstation environments.
Nice to Have
- Experience using Git for configuration/scripts and working with reviews/changes.
