Part-Time Suicide Bereavement Worker - Remote Support
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Suicide Bereavement Worker to join our team at Rethink Mental Illness. This part-time role offers the opportunity to provide essential support to individuals bereaved by suicide, helping them navigate their grief and rebuild their lives. As a Suicide Bereavement Worker, you will work flexibly, delivering one-on-one and group support to those aged 18 and over across Gloucestershire.
What You'll Do
- Deliver high-quality, person-centered bereavement support, both one-on-one and in group settings.
- Utilize bereavement support planning and outcome measurement tools to track progress and demonstrate impact.
- Provide practical support, advocacy, and liaise with agencies such as police and coroners.
- Offer information, guidance, and signposting to local and national services.
- Maintain excellent working relationships with stakeholders and local communities.
- Contribute to service monitoring, evaluation, and continuous improvement.
- Support volunteers and ensure safe, ethical, and compassionate practice at all times.
Requirements
- Experience supporting individuals affected by suicide or bereavement, or working within health/social care.
- Lived experience of bereavement by suicide (with at least 3 years having passed).
- Ability to work flexibly across Gloucestershire, including evenings up to 8 PM.
- Strong communication skills and the confidence to work independently.
- Experience of safeguarding, incident reporting, and lone working.
- NVQ 3 / QCF Diploma in Health & Social Care (or related subject).
- Excellent organizational and IT skills.
Nice to Have
- Experience delivering training or awareness sessions.
- Trauma-informed training.
- Knowledge of Gloucestershire services and communities.
- Experience providing advocacy or supporting individuals who self-harm.
- Knowledge of grief theories or loss support.
