About the Role

Idaho National Laboratory is seeking an experienced Operations Manager for the Advanced Test Reactor (ATRC) facility. This role offers a unique opportunity to manage operations in a critical nuclear environment while enjoying a 4x10 work schedule with every Friday off. As an Operations Manager, you will oversee the Advanced Test Reactor and associated facilities, ensuring operational excellence and compliance with safety standards.

What You'll Do

  • Manage the operational activities of the Advanced Test Reactor, Nuclear Materials, and Inspection Storage Facility.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to subordinate supervisors and professionals, ensuring adherence to company policies.
  • Execute financial planning, business strategies, and workforce management to meet organizational goals.
  • Develop and implement operational policies and procedures that enhance efficiency and safety.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders to drive project success.
  • Communicate results and recommendations effectively across various disciplines.
  • Participate in strategic planning and contribute to the long-term goals of the department.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and maintain high standards of operational integrity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field with at least 5 years of nuclear reactor operations experience, including 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) certification at ATR or a similar reactor is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in reactor operations, testing, and maintenance.
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain DOE “L” security clearance.
  • Strong leadership skills with a proven track record of managing teams effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with diverse teams.
  • Ability to work in both office and field/laboratory environments, with physical requirements including lifting up to 35 pounds.

  • Experience in nuclear materials management.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance in nuclear operations.
  • Advanced degree in a relevant field.
