Operational Resiliency Specialist - Remote Role at Kraken

About the Role

We are seeking an Operational Resiliency Specialist to join our team at Kraken, a leading cryptocurrency exchange. This remote role offers the opportunity to contribute to the security, availability, and durability of our platform, ensuring that our services operate smoothly around the clock. As a member of the Global Operational Resiliency (OpR) team, you will play a crucial role in maintaining our position as one of the most secure and resilient crypto exchanges in the world.

What You'll Do

• Contribute to maintaining operational excellence by ensuring our services are available 24/7.
• Participate in on-call duties as an Incident Manager during US business hours (2PM to 8PM UTC), managing incident responses and stakeholder coordination.
• Work with stakeholders to identify the root cause of incidents and assist in postmortem activities.
• Help establish and continuously improve Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BCP/DR) capabilities.
• Plan, coordinate, and facilitate disaster recovery exercises and tabletop scenarios.
• Develop, maintain, and test business continuity plans and disaster recovery documentation.
• Partner with engineering and business teams to track remediation actions from incident postmortems.
• Inform automation efforts to enhance monitoring and alerting capabilities.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as an incident responder, major incident manager, or disaster recovery specialist.
• Hands-on experience designing, maintaining, or executing business continuity plans and disaster recovery strategies.
• Experience running or supporting disaster recovery tests and simulations.
• Understanding of recovery objectives (RTO/RPO) in distributed technology environments.
• Exceptional organizational skills and responsiveness in a technical environment.
• Experience leading discussions during high-stakes technical bridge calls.
• Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle.
• Prior experience with Atlassian Tools (Confluence/Jira) is a plus.

• Experience in the cryptocurrency or blockchain industry.
• Familiarity with regulatory expectations related to business continuity.
• Certifications in disaster recovery or incident management.
