About the Role

We're hiring an On-Call Writer to join our dynamic team at The Weather Network. This remote position offers you the chance to leverage your writing skills while working on diverse content for our digital platforms. As an On-Call Writer, you will be responsible for sourcing, writing, editing, and posting digital assets, ensuring that our audience receives timely and engaging news and video content.

What You'll Do

• Write and publish original content for The Weather Network's digital platforms.
• Work closely with the Video and Editorial teams to generate compelling news stories.
• Research and conceptualize innovative content strategies that resonate with our audience.
• Monitor analytics to meet daily objectives and improve content performance.
• Conduct interviews with sources and experts to enrich your articles.
• Publish updates and engage with our audience on social media platforms.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas during huddles.
• Pitch and verify digital content for publishing, ensuring accuracy and relevance.

Requirements

• Excellent writing and researching skills, with a strong command of English.
• Familiarity with CP Style and knowledge of Content Management Systems.
• Basic HTML and Photoshop skills are advantageous.
• Understanding of SEO principles and Google Analytics is a plus.
• Strong communication and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and nights.
• Social media savvy with the ability to engage audiences effectively.
