Legal Counsel - Remote Opportunity in FinTech

About the Role

We are seeking a Legal Counsel (remote) to join our dynamic team at RVU. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in the FinTech sector, providing legal support to our commercial teams while enjoying the flexibility of a hybrid work model. You will be based in Cardiff, Wales, working two days a week in the office, and the rest remotely. As a Legal Counsel, you will play a crucial role in driving our business forward by providing trusted legal advice and contributing to new products and initiatives.

What You'll Do

• Draft, negotiate, and execute commercial agreements while proactively maintaining and improving the legal processes that underpin them.
• Provide day-to-day legal perspective and guidance, including risk assessment and mitigation strategies.
• Advise business teams on compliance with data protection and e-privacy laws.
• Assist with acquisitions and corporate integration projects.
• Help establish and manage a framework of policies and guidance to address legal and commercial issues within the business.

Requirements

• 1 to 5 years’ post-qualification experience in-house or at a commercial or corporate law firm.
• Qualified to practice as a solicitor in England and Wales (or another common law jurisdiction).
• Proven ability to draft and negotiate complex commercial agreements under tight deadlines.
• Experience advising on IT, data protection, and e-privacy laws.
• Ability to work autonomously and make an impact from an early stage.

Nice to Have

• Knowledge of intellectual property and competition law.
• Experience in the insurance and/or financial services sectors.
