Lead Engineer – Embedded Software (Remote)
About the Role
We are seeking a Lead Engineer – Embedded Software to join our dynamic team at GE Aerospace. This remote position offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge embedded software solutions for aircraft engines, contributing to both short-term and long-term business goals.
What You'll Do
- Design and develop open and closed loop control systems and embedded software for aircraft engines, integrating both software and hardware components.
- Utilize programming languages such as C/C++, Python, and MATLAB/Simulink to develop and maintain embedded software.
- Define, develop, and evolve software in a fast-paced and agile development environment using the latest technologies.
- Conduct testing and validation of control systems and embedded software to ensure compliance with performance, safety, and regulatory standards.
- Analyze data from engine tests to identify performance issues and develop effective software solutions.
- Use simulation tools to model engine behavior and predict performance under various conditions.
- Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and software code.
- Collaborate closely with mechanical, electrical, and software engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of control systems and embedded software.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related STEM field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in software engineering, particularly in embedded systems.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++, Python, and MATLAB/Simulink.
- Experience with Windows and Unix/Linux based programming.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and mentor junior engineers.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident to obtain security clearance.
Nice to Have
- Master's Degree or PhD in Computer Science or related field.
- In-depth knowledge of control theory, signal processing, and software development.
- Certified Scrum Master and/or Product Owner.
- Experience in the Aerospace domain.
