About the Role

As a Freelance Sub-Editor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and quality of our news coverage, particularly for market-moving stories.

What You'll Do

• Sub-edit stories quickly and accurately to meet tight deadlines.
• Write engaging headlines that capture the essence of the news.
• Rework non-native English stories to ensure clarity and coherence.
• Prioritize market-moving stories to keep our audience informed.
• Collaborate with journalists and other team members to enhance content quality.
• Participate in team events, which may involve some foreign travel.

Requirements

• Five years of sub-editing experience, ideally in a newswire or newspaper environment.
• Native English speaker with excellent spelling and grammar skills.
• Strong understanding of the energy sector and financial markets.
• Experience working in a busy newsroom and ability to work under pressure.
• Strong grasp of figures for market reports and ability to convey complex information clearly.
• Team player with a proactive approach and initiative.
